I've Got the Blues--essie barefoot in blue

Hello loves!  This week I will be featuring polishes that are my favorite color: BLUE!  Strangely enough, although blue is my favorite color, finding a blue polish I like is a bit of a problem.  Many of you are aware of my cool pale skintone which can morph a blue at times.  And to complicate things, my lovely plethora of freckles are warm toned.  Basically, I'm a picky blue polish wearer.  This week I will share my favorite blue polishes with you:)

Bluey #2 is...
essie barefoot in blue

This is such a pretty blue!  It's definitely a light blue that reminds me of clear, spring, sunny, blue skies.  This beauty is a limited edition polish that was given away by Toms and essie for Toms' One Day Without Shoes campaign.  On April 10, I went without shoes for the day and wore this beauty on by toes.  I also recently purchased my first pair of Toms.  Fun fact, Toms donates and distributes one pair of shoes for each one pair you buy every and any day.

The Verdict:
This pretty polish brightens any gloomy day.  I was very concerned about this polish at first.  My first coat was very thin and uneven.  It ended up settling itself and covering quite evenly, this is 2 coats.  The formulation and pigmentation was good and there was no staining.  I think everyone needs one beautiful blue like this one.  It makes me want to have a picnic!

Do you have a favorite sky blue shade?

I've Got the Blues--Barielle Berry Blue

Hello loves!  This week I will be featuring polishes that are my favorite color: BLUE!  Strangely enough, although blue is my favorite color, finding a blue polish I like is a bit of a problem.  Many of you are aware of my cool pale skintone which can morph a blue at times.  And to complicate things, my lovely plethora of freckles are warm toned.  Basically, I'm a picky blue polish wearer.  This week I will share my favorite blue polishes with you:)

Blue polish #1:
Barielle Berry Blue
Barielle describes this beauty as a "creamy navy blue."  This picture shows 2 coats, and it is evident that I should have used 3.  Also this blue has the consistency of a jelly.  This is important to know, as one should allow for more time between coats (which again I didn't do).

The Verdict:
I love the pigmentation of this polish.  This blue is a bright and vibrant almost cobalt shade in sunlight and turns to a navy in shadows.  This is my all time favorite color of blue (this and navy).  The only problem with this polish is...you guess it, staining:-\ This polish did NOT stain my nails because I used 2 coats of an amazing basecoat. However, if it touches your skin you will turn into a smurf.  But seriously, a bright blue squishy jelly-ish creme = must-have...don't disappoint it;)

Barielle nail polish can be purchased from their website and retails for $8.00 each.  ALSO Barielle sends out special offers often so be sure to sign up for their email list!

Playing with Polish--Summer Safari

For this round of playing with polish, I was inspired by this picture:

I LOVE giraffes.  So I was on a mission to recreate this bright giraffe print into a summer safari manicure.  Here is how mine turned out...
It's not too bad.  I couldn't decide what colors to use, so I stuck with a bunch of random Zoyas.  The accent nail includes Zoya America, Paz, Wednesday, Edyta, Vanessa, and Ali.  My other nails have 2 coats of Paz topped with 1 coat of Coraline.  This was a lot of fun.  I love drawing direct inspiration from pictures or objects I have.  After looking at this picture for a bit, I'm not sure if it looks like a giraffe or just stained glass.  Whatever, it's fun:)

If you'd like me to attempt to turn a picture or object into a fun nail art attempt, let me know.  I love the challenge!  Have you ever drawn direct inspiration like this?
