Golden Elegance

Every season has its trends that help to make way for the next fad. Last year Essie came out with their   luxe effects. Prior to this a number of brands were creating "toppers" that changed the appearance of a polish with glitters, duochrome shimmers, and flakies. The trend has since evolved into gold flake topcoats.

Originally I was smitten with this concept, but after much thought I decided that the gold flakes were not my style. I'm sure if I tried them I'd change mind. To curb my appetite for a real gold topcoat I decided to break out As Gold As It Gets from the Essie luxe effects collection.

I layered this golden beauty over L'Oreal Sweet Nothings. This was quite lovely and I received many compliments on this golden manicure. It reminds me of golden sun rays and sparkling warm sand. I love trying out new layering combinations. And although this is nothing like a gold topcoat I still find it beautiful and stunning.

L'Oreal Beautigasm

THIS my loves was a long time coming...

The majority of blogs that I follow feature nail polish.  However most of the vloggers on youtube that I follow feature cosmetics, beauty  and fashion advice/tutorials.  Well, way back in August, Dianna of Beautigasm visited L'Oreal, made her own color and vlogged about it!  She also made 25 custom bottles of her amazing color to giveaway!  I was lucky enough to snag one of these limited edition polishes.
Dianna created her signature color, a bright, yet cool-toned, fuchsia packed with cool silvery blue shimmer.  She also decided to name it "Beautigasm" after her blog.

TheVerdict:
The application was amazing.  It was so effortless and smooth to apply.  This polish was VERY pigmented (and does not stain); the above picture shows 2 coats (it would have been one but I smudged it)!  I really like this color and while it really isn't very autumnal, I think I may wear it in the winter when I need a pick-me-up AND I'm dying to wear it in the summer!

L'Oreal Sweet Nothings

I love peach and coral shades.

I have a problem though, peach shades tend to make my hands look ghastly.

I have been on the hunt for a peachy color that flatters my skin tone.  I have been tempted to pick up essie's A Crewed Interest, but I have never purchased it because of its bi-polar reviews.  So while I was in Target using my coupons from my summer beauty bag I picked up 3 clearance polishes, two of which I could use coupons for.  I picked up Revlon ColorStay in Delicious, Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Parchment, and L'Oreal Sweet Nothings.

I had picked up and compared Sweet Nothings to A Crewed Interest and noted their similar peachy toned hue.  The main difference appeared to be their opacity (which made A Crewed Interest look a tad chalky).  Here is a peek at Sweet Nothings...

The Verdict:
This is a rather sheer, but buildable polish (picture shows three coats with no top coat).  I like the color, it is peachy but flattering.  I wish it would have had better coverage.  A few days later I added another coat and it was even more opaque and a slightly brighter peach.  I still need to find my perfect peach, although this was flattering and applied like butter.  It's very pretty and I plan on wearing it again.  It would look great with glitters and I'm wondering if I can sandwich with it...only time will tell:)

L'Oreal nail polish can be purchased at pharmacies and retails for around $5 each.
