I love flowers. I also love arranging flowers.
Fun fact: I arranged all of the flowers used for my wedding without having any prior experience. It was so much fun.
One of the many types of flowers I used were hydrangeas. Their little flowers are so lovely all clustered together. I was looking at flowers on pinterest recently (for no real reason) and became inspired to try some hydrangea nail art. Here it is...
I used Zoya Megan as a base and then carefully painted delicate overlapping blossoms on my ring finger in a white polish. I then included some drifting individual blossoms on my middle and pinky (my thumb looked similar to my ring finger, but with the flowers clustered more toward the tip rather than the nail base).
This is so springy to me. I actually really like this manicure and I cannot wait to try it again:)

Sparrow Me the Drama with Dots
So a while back I was wearing OPI Sparrow Me the Drama, which is a lovely dusty pink, and I wanted to liven it up a bit. So I decided to add white dots of varying sizes.
It ended up pretty cute. It definitely looks like a spring manicure. I can't say this is my favorite manicure ever, but it is an easy way to add a little something extra to a manicure. This would work particularly well if you could see nail growth since your last manicure and wanted to cover it up. I think this would look amazing using a white, grey, nude, or black and using bright or neon polish dots/speckles.
How would you change this mani for the summer?

Memorial Day Manicure
Happy Memorial Day to all U.S. readers.
I hope that as you celebrate today you remember those who died serving our nation in war. To celebrate and remember, I chose to create a manicure specific to Memorial Day.
I hope you enjoy this day of rememberance.
We cherish too, the Poppy red
That grows on fields where valor led,
It seems to signal to the skies
That blood of heroes never dies.
That grows on fields where valor led,
It seems to signal to the skies
That blood of heroes never dies.
~Moina Michael
I hope that as you celebrate today you remember those who died serving our nation in war. To celebrate and remember, I chose to create a manicure specific to Memorial Day.
I was inspired by the above poem by Moina Michael (who was inspired by "In Flanders Fields").
I hope you enjoyed my abstract poppy manicure. I used a base of Zoya Purity as my white canvas, then I added Zoya America (very fitting, I know) and tried to use the watercolor technique but it didn't work. So I free handed an imperfect circle with Zoya America over my mess. Than I added a stem and leaves with Zoya Edyta. It was finished off with a black rhinestone for the center. I will have to try this one again some time:)I hope you enjoy this day of rememberance.

OPI Planks A Lot
This polish was released last Spring as part of OPI's Pirates of the Caribbean Collection. The majority of the collection is filled with pretty pastel creams. I had high expectations for these lovely shades because i love pastels. Here is the darkest of the bunch, Planks A Lot...
This is 2 coats. This polish was so frustrating to apply. OPI minis are so hard to work with, they have a dinky brush with hard bristles that cause tons of cuticle drag and pooling. I got rather frustrated with this polish and stopped after 2 coats. I decided I HAD to do something with this crappy polish job I did, so I tried a herringbone manicure...It did not turn out as I had hoped, so I will have to practice & try it again.
The Verdict:
While I love this color, this polish definitely disappointed me. I know that most of it was the fact that i have a mini and not a full size bottle. I was however disappointed in the streaky thin nature of this polish. I will have to give it another shot with a different base coat. Needless to say, I do not recommend the mini of this polish (all of the minis of this collection were like this, but this one was the wateriest). I really want to love this, but after looking at the pictures, I was saddened. I love the color though:)
This polish was part of last spring's collection so it may be easiest to find at online retailers that sell OPI polishes.

Revlon Plum Night
It is no secret that I love this polish. Although I have used it in nail art, I have never formally posted an entire beautiful swatch of Revlon Plum Night. So here is her recognition post:)
This deep blackened purple polish dries to a glossy finish. This picture shows 2 coats (should have done 3, but I layered on top so it didn't matter too much). The application of this deep purple is thin, somewhat watery, but easy. Also, I had no staining whatsoever with this lovely polish. I know that dark and highly pigmented polishes can stain at times, but this is not one of them! The Verdict:
I love this polish. I love its depth. Plum Night can be dark, mysterious, and rather vampy OR can come across sophisticated, simple, and elegant it depends on how you wear it. This was one of my go-to polishes last fall, but I also wore it this spring so it is versatile as well.
Like other Revlon polishes this can be found in many pharmacies, drug stores, and grocery stores. This is a part of their permanent line, but I urge you to pick up this pretty polish.

Check it out here: https://apps.facebook.com/sweepstakeshq/contests/220545
I have personally used ALL of the above listed products. Here's my quick take on each:
Barielle's first product ever created (w/ a great back story), and my favorite one, is their Nail Strengthener Cream. This silky smooth cream penetrates deep into your nails to moisturize and promote healthy growth. I cannot begin to describe the change this has made in my nails. It has reduced peeling, strengthened, and moisturized my easily peeling and cracking nails. This is a must-have and the best part is that a little goes a long way so it's totally worth it. I love this part of my manicure/hand routine (it works wonders on toe nails too!).
This my 2nd bottle (& it's 1/2 empty) of this base coat, it's that good! |
This is actually my (nearly) brand new 2nd bottle of this! Thank goodness my local Sally's carries this! |

Tangerine
It is quite evident that tangerine is taking over this year. As it was declared the color of the year AND it is everywhere from cosmetics to clothes and accessories. Everyone is wearing tangerine.
I must admit that I tend to shy away from oranges and yellows. I've never found either color to be flattering on me and at times I struggle to build an outfit around one of these colors. I have gotten much, much better at accenting with polish or accessories of a color that I am not completely comfortable wearing in large doses. I tend to do the same thing with neons, accenting with them rather than wearing them in large quantities.
Today I decided to share a polish that I have had for a whole year and I have not yet shared with you. When I got Dr.'s Remedy Tranquil Tangerine last summer I was excited to try this bright vibrant color. However, my fear of oranges got the best of me as I felt very "Halloween" with it on.
In reality, this beautiful glowing tangerine would only look like Halloween if paired with black. In fact, Dr.'s Remedy describes it as "A bold, but wonderfully-wearable, slice of juicy delight." I think they're spot on with that description.
The Verdict:
This glowing orange is beautiful. The frosty golden, sun-kissed, orange shimmer creates depth and warmth to this polish. As you can see, brush strokes are visible due to the frosted finish, however they are not glaring. The application was very smooth and the consistency of this polish is thin but it builds up nicely. Dr.'s Remedy Enriched polish is enriched with natural ingredients and is free of harmful chemicals. It also contains natural treatments for nail fungus and brittle discolored nails. It's a great healthy polish option. Also, this orange is beautiful even if it is a tad too warm for my skin tone. I'll have to give it another shot I guess:)
Dr.'s Remedy Enriched polishes can be purchased online from their website for $17.00 each.

All That Glitters...Tuff Scent Wisdom
Confession: I am afraid of glitter polishes.
I LOVE glitter polishes in the bottle. I LOVE the potentially amazing things you can do and create with glitter polishes. BUT they're a pain to take off & sometimes they make me feel like a little kid.
This week I am going to share with you my silver, gold, & glittery friends that do not get the credit that they deserve. "All That Glitters.." week has already taught me to love my glitters more. Check it out:
All That Glitters is...
Tuff Scent Wisdom
I picked this beauty for today, as it is my sister's college graduation day so the name was very fitting. Tuff Scent Wisdom is a clear yellow jelly packed with tiny pieces of gold glitter. This is one coat (as it has been with all of the glitters this week). Wisdom builds up for complete coverage in 3 coats AND smells like grapefruit:)The Verdict:
I LOVE this gold glitter. I love that it can be worn both sparse and full coverage. The grapefruit scent is wonderful, it brightens your day no matter what.
Tuff Scent polishes each have their own yummy, unique scent and can be purchased online for $10.00 each with FREE SHIPPING on online purchases.

OPI Spark de Triomphe
Say "hello" to my favorite glitter. Spark de Triomphe was sold as part of the Serena Collections. This beautiful glitter is packed with mostly silver microglitter and small silver hexagonal glitters, but it has some gold fine glitter and hex glitters sprinkled in there too. This is one coat of this beauty, it takes only 3 coats to reach full coverage of this gilver stunner.
The Verdict:
This is a favorite for sure. I was lemming this glitter for so long and when I got it, she did not disappoint. I love how this transforms in different light. Every moment with this beauty on your tips will make you love it more. Application was a breeze and the glitter was smooth against the nail. I highly recommend this polish to any gilver lovers:)
This OPI was part of the Serena Collections and can be found at some beauty supply stores and also online with certain suppliers. Most OPIs retail individually for $8.00.

This linear holographic polish is absolutely stunning in sunlight.
The Verdict:
This polish is show stopping. However, without a special "aqua" base coat this is a PAIN to apply. It's beautiful, but other than that I'm not a fan at all. I have enjoyed layering a silver glitter over it for a stellar effect.
Nfu Oh polishes can be purchased from some online suppliers and is usually about $12.00.

essie Shine of the Times
I am completely aware that Shine of the Times is a flakie, but the shift does hit gold at some points:) I love how flakies dress up a manicure. Above you can see one coat of shine of the times over a dark polish and over a light colored polish.
The Verdict:
I know flakies are a "fad" but this is a fad that I will take any and every day over shatter/crackles. This beauty applied like butter. I love how it transforms over different colors. My biggest problem with flakies (in general) is that sometimes they "sink" into polish making it not look smooth even after it is completely dry. Also they can be annoying to remove (though not as bad as glitters). If you don't have a flakie, I would definitely recommend this one, it's so beautiful! I love how it made my fingernails look like little opals.
Essie polishes can be purchased for about $8.00 each and can be found at most pharmacies and grocery stores with beauty departments.
Do you have a favorite flakie?

This is what happens when I take on a challenge, I get messy and crazy!
This week Barielle is hosting a mani-pedi contest on their facebook page (something they do often). So I figured I'd give it my best shot & enter. I racked my brain and came up with this random tribal print. This manicure is 2 coats of Back to Nature as a base coat. I followed that by making stripes with Eli's Magic and other paint blobs and lines with End of the Rainbow. I outlined and added details with Berry Blue and finished it with some Gold Digger details.
It's a bit messy and a tad crazy, but it was fun. I entered and so far I'm one of the only entries that isn't just a solid paint job or layering. And the down side to their facebook contests is that they're popularity contests so usually the first entry or the person with the most followers wins. *sigh* Oh well, this was still a BLAST:) Have you tried a tribal print manicure?

Barielle Gold Digger
Barielle describes Gold Digger as "gold w/ sparkles." This is not exactly how I would define this polish. I believe that saying it is a metallic gold polish that sparkles in sunlight, would be a better description. Although, I see that "sparkles" is accurate looking at this picture, eventhough many of us jump to the term GLITTER when we hear sparkles:)
The Verdict:
Meet one of my favorite gold polishes (I have 2 favorites). I love how neutral and wearable this gold is. At times I feel as though some metallic shades can be really in your face. I understand that many people enjoy polishes to be like this, but I prefer this as it compliments my skin tone nicely. The application was extremely smooth and it was streak free. This is only ONE coat of this beauty, I know that I could have used 2 but it still looks great. This polish borders "gilver" (gold/silver) as it is not a very yellowy gold. I recommend this lovely little polish if you haven't already found a great gilver.
Barielle nail polish can be purchased from their website and retails for $8.00 each. ALSO Barielle sends out special offers often so be sure to sign up for their email list!

I've Got the Blues--Essie B4B
Hello loves! This week I will be featuring polishes that are my favorite color: BLUE! Strangely enough, although blue is my favorite color, finding a blue polish I like is a bit of a problem. Many of you are aware of my cool pale skintone which can morph a blue at times. And to complicate things, my lovely plethora of freckles are warm toned. Basically, I'm a picky blue polish wearer. This week I will share my favorite blue polishes with you:)
Last but definitely not least...blue polish #5:
essie bobbing for baubles
This polish is a dusty dark blue. Last fall, I became wildly obsessed with finding a navy blue that would not look black. It seemed that every polish I was tipped off about ended up looking so dark that it was black. The Verdict:
The dustiness & hint of green in this beautiful blue separated it from the rest and makes it wearable in all seasons. This is a must-have for me and it is my absolute favorite blue that I own. I have worn this in the winter & spring. I cannot wait to wear this beautiful saturated jewel toned blue this fall.
Essie nail polishes can be purchased at many retailers including at most pharmacies for $8.00.

This week I will share my favorite blue polishes with you:)
Here is blue #4:
Priti NYC describes Californian Bluebell as a "bright glossy grayish blue." This color is calming yet vibrant. This is 2 coats of this dusty blue delight.
The Verdict:
This color makes me smile. I love how bright yet soothing it is. This is another blue that does not stain in any way:) The formula is buttery smooth and the pigmentation helps to build the polish nicely (first coat was very thin, sheer, and streaky). This is another multi-seasonal polish but I find myself drawn to it most as seasons change. I wore it in my transition between winter & spring and LOVED it.
Priti NYC polishes can be purchased from their website and retail at $12.50 each.

Blue #3...
Revlon Whimsical
**I know that everyone and their mother and sister and aunt's friend's first cousin's wife have posted on this polish. It's one of my "blue" favorites though so you'll have to deal with it one more time;)**This is a light blue jelly with light pink and light aqua hexagonal glitter suspended throughout. There is also fine light pink and aqua glitter within this squishy blue base. The above shot shows 3 layers of Revlon Whimsical on all nails. And here she is layered over essie barefoot in blue (1 coat):
The Verdict:
This polish is fun and...well...whimsical;) It's definitely best for layering. It looks amazing layered over Zoya Kristen (but I forgot to take a picture!). While I love this polish, I also do not believe that it deserves all of the crazy hype it got in the late winter. Additionally, it was hard to get the glitter to apply evenly (see first shot). But nonetheless, I love this concoction as it reminds me of birthday parties and cupcakes. While this is not necessarily a must-have, it is fun and can be layered many ways.

Bluey #2 is...
This is such a pretty blue! It's definitely a light blue that reminds me of clear, spring, sunny, blue skies. This beauty is a limited edition polish that was given away by Toms and essie for Toms' One Day Without Shoes campaign. On April 10, I went without shoes for the day and wore this beauty on by toes. I also recently purchased my first pair of Toms. Fun fact, Toms donates and distributes one pair of shoes for each one pair you buy every and any day.
The Verdict:
This pretty polish brightens any gloomy day. I was very concerned about this polish at first. My first coat was very thin and uneven. It ended up settling itself and covering quite evenly, this is 2 coats. The formulation and pigmentation was good and there was no staining. I think everyone needs one beautiful blue like this one. It makes me want to have a picnic!

Blue polish #1:
Blue polish #1:
Barielle Berry Blue
Barielle describes this beauty as a "creamy navy blue." This picture shows 2 coats, and it is evident that I should have used 3. Also this blue has the consistency of a jelly. This is important to know, as one should allow for more time between coats (which again I didn't do).
The Verdict:
I love the pigmentation of this polish. This blue is a bright and vibrant almost cobalt shade in sunlight and turns to a navy in shadows. This is my all time favorite color of blue (this and navy). The only problem with this polish is...you guess it, staining:-\ This polish did NOT stain my nails because I used 2 coats of an amazing basecoat. However, if it touches your skin you will turn into a smurf. But seriously, a bright blue squishy jelly-ish creme = must-have...don't disappoint it;)
Barielle nail polish can be purchased from their website and retails for $8.00 each. ALSO Barielle sends out special offers often so be sure to sign up for their email list!

I LOVE giraffes. So I was on a mission to recreate this bright giraffe print into a summer safari manicure. Here is how mine turned out...
It's not too bad. I couldn't decide what colors to use, so I stuck with a bunch of random Zoyas. The accent nail includes Zoya America, Paz, Wednesday, Edyta, Vanessa, and Ali. My other nails have 2 coats of Paz topped with 1 coat of Coraline. This was a lot of fun. I love drawing direct inspiration from pictures or objects I have. After looking at this picture for a bit, I'm not sure if it looks like a giraffe or just stained glass. Whatever, it's fun:)
If you'd like me to attempt to turn a picture or object into a fun nail art attempt, let me know. I love the challenge! Have you ever drawn direct inspiration like this?
